By train

Travelling by train to the Algarve International Circuit is a comfortable and scenic way to get there, especially if you are travelling within Portugal or from nearby regions. Here’s how to plan your journey:

CP Trains (Comboios de Portugal)

  • Service overview: CP, Portugal’s national railway operator, runs regular train services linking all major cities. The main long-distance options are the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains.
  • Scenic route: The stretch through the Algarve offers beautiful views of the coastline and countryside, making for a relaxing trip.
  • Comfort: Both train types feature comfortable seating, air conditioning, and luggage space. Alfa Pendular trains also offer Wi-Fi and a small catering service.

Booking and timetables

You can find timetables, prices, and online booking on the official CP website at www.cp.pt, available in several languages. The CP mobile app also allows you to check real-time schedules and buy tickets easily.

  • Direct train: Regional trains run regularly between Faro and Portimão, taking about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • Tickets: Can be bought at the station or online in advance.

From other European cities

  • From Seville (Spain): Take a Renfe train to Faro, then transfer to a CP regional train to Portimão.
  • From Madrid (Spain): Travel with Renfe from Madrid to Lisbon, then continue with a CP train from Lisbon to Portimão.
